Joseph R. WiddIfield of Stouffville
From Stouffville, Ontario, Canada, Joseph R. Widdifield was a soldier in the Canadian military of WW1. He was born June 8, 1884 originally a decorator. He joined the war August 15, 1915. He fought as the 83rd Battalion - Canadian Expeditionary Force, the field force so respected and efficient that the Germans nicknamed them Stormtroopers. Consisting of mostly volunteers, this force became so dependent by the Allied commanders that the Canadians were ordered to spearhead the last campaigns of the War. He died October 2, 1916 at the age of 35. His burial was located at the Vimy Memorial, Vimy, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France. His final resting place remains unknown.
